Iridology

LaMastra Carl Right 5-19-2008.JPGIridology is a non-invasive and inexpensive way to understand tissue condition in the body, and its location, through the reflex organ, the eye.  Because messages are sent via nerve endings, through the spinal cord and the optic thalami, the iris of the eye reflects inflammation, or health, in every organ in the body.  Precise mapping of the iris began with the observations of doctors and adepts.  Those physicians knew their patients so well that they recognized that physical conditions, and the taking of drugs, caused varied discolorations and markings in the iris of the patient.

The History of Iridology

At the age of eleven, a young Ignatz von Peczely observed a rising dark line in the eye of an owl whose leg had just been broken.  The line rose from the point at six o’clock.  The young boy bandaged the owl’s leg, nursed him to health and set him free.  The bird, however, lingered in the family garden for many years.  Peczely noted that the black line at six o’clock soon gave way to white and crooked lines, which surrounded a tiny black dot.  When Peczely grew up he became a physicianHe never forgot his work with the owl; and soon, he began noting and mapping the correlation of changed markings in the iris with surgeries, injuries and illnesses of his patients.

At the same time in history, a Swedish clergyman began to map drug settlements and the changed colorations in the iris.  His own need for massive quantities of quinine had changed the color of his eyes to a yellow-green.

The mapping of the iris progressed, with many physicians and progressions of iris maps up to the 1970s.   At that time Iridology took the broad leap to recognition due mainly to the pioneer work of Bernard Jensen, D.C, Ph.D., renowned Iridologist and Nutritionist.  His dedication to precision and his integrity created a new generation of natural health practitioners.  He literally trained thousands of new Iridologists and Nutritionists.

What can be seen?

The iris reflects body condition, inherent weaknesses, level of health, transition from illness to health, levels of stress, constitution, or ability to heal, and more.  Health conditions can be assessed on a scale from 1-10.  The Acute stage (1-3), appears as very white iris fibers; and shows tissue that is acidic, hyperactive, and in pain.  Sub-acute conditions (3-6) appear as light gray in the iris.  When acute conditions are not cared for through proper cleansing, diet, and healthful living, they become sub-acute.  Chronic conditions (6-9) appear dark gray.  Chronic conditions (10) appear as black in the iris.  This reflects body tissue that is not capable of eliminating toxicity.  At this level of toxicity, tissue has no function and is not able to be nourished.  Life energy or chi moves completely around this tissue.

The science of mapping the iris of the eye, and using the overlay on the iris of a person’s eye captured by high resonant, digital photography, can indicate, years in advance of a medical emergency, tissue conditions and how they are affecting organs and systems.  Using researched and highly technical software assures both client and practitioner that nothing is overlooked.

The mapping of the iris and clarification of tissue gradations took many minds and several centuries of collaboration.  The chart above is the creation of Dr. Bernard Jensen, and is a culmination of his forty plus years of study, and is aided by the work of doctors and other astute researchers before him.

As you can see above, the iris is mapped out as the clock, in hours, with half hours easily delineated. From the pupil out toward the periphery of the iris there are seven sections or zones.  They have been mapped as follows, and from the pupil out:  1.Stomach, or digestion;   2.Colon and Small Intestine, called the Autonomic Nerve Wreath;  3.Pancreas, Kidneys & Heart;  4.Respiratory;  5.Brain, Reproductive;  6 Liver, Spleen, Thyroid Lymphatics, Small Glands;  7. Integumentary System, Motor and Sensory Nerves.

Many portions of both irises are similar; however, just as the liver is on the right side of the body, it is reflected only in the right eye.  Respectively the spleen is reflected in the left iris. As the body is naturally drawn up internally, those organs are reflected in the iris on respective sides of the body.

A great way to check that out is by locating the appendix, found on the right side of the body, so in the right iris. Locate 6:30 and travel up toward the pupil; however, stop about two-thirds the way to your destination.  The reflection of the appendix shows up in both zones two and three.  Many people have trouble with the appendix because it’s a tiny appendage of the large intestine, right at the cecum.  It serves as a catch-all for debris.  When it gets full of debris it can enlarge and explode, dumping toxic waste into the blood stream.  It can be interesting to check your own appendix and see if there are any dark spots in that vicinity.  If you have a friend that will let you look at their eyes, see how that area checks out for them.

I mention the appendix because appendicitis seems a common ailment for many people, and so is easy to spot.

Does Everyone Recognize Iridology as A Credible Tool?

It can be noted here that whereas many doctors today recognize the reality of the iris as a diagnostic organ, there are as many who call the scientific and reflexive qualities of the iris -   quackery.

It is especially interesting because researchers today also note that the iris scan more notably identifies a person than fingerprint identification.

My Personal Experience

When I first learned of Iridology over thirty years ago I memorized a few portions of the iris map above.  I remember wowing my sister-in-law when I asked her if she was having female problems.  I felt confident with the general area.  She gasped and wanted to know how I could tell that she had just had a cervical cauterization performed.  She could barely believe it when I told her I could see the definite black line in that specific reflected area in her iris.

Years since then I’ve experienced similar reactions with family members or clients as I’ve mentioned conditions such as an over acid system, which would be creating a lot of body pain, or the possibility that they are not digesting or not eliminating properly.  Clients quickly concur they are suffering with those ailments so indicated by the reflex organ, the iris.

I have added the use of a highly resonant digital Iridology Camera and the most advanced Iridology Software Program available.   This ensures precise and adequate information for both client and naturopath, and enables the practitioner to create the proper nutritional program.  I consider iridology a valuable tool in my nutritional and wellness coaching.

In future articles on iridology I’ll consider some specifics that will help you recognize and understand what your eyes are mirroring from your body.
